Ortega Falcon Series OBJE400TFR 5-String Quilted Maple Resonator Acoustic-Electric Banjo – Transparent Fire Red
Classic Banjo Tone with Eye-Catching Modern Style
The Ortega Falcon Series OBJE400TFR 5-String Banjo combines the traditional sound and feel of a resonator banjo with distinctive modern styling and convenient onboard electronics. Featuring a beautiful quilted maple resonator, transparent fire red finish, maple neck and fingerboard, brass tone ring, and built-in passive pickup, this banjo is equally at home on the bluegrass stage, in a country band, at church, or during an acoustic jam session.
The OBJE400TFR is part of Ortega's Falcon Series, a line designed to bring the character of traditional banjo construction together with contemporary appointments. Ortega's 2025 catalog confirms the quilted maple resonator, maple neck and fingerboard, built-in passive pickup with volume control, 24 brackets, Remo Fiberskyn-style head, and BJP-5 strings.
Quilted Maple Resonator
The quilted maple resonator provides a distinctive appearance while contributing to the banjo's projection and tonal character. The transparent fire red semi-gloss finish allows the maple figuring to remain visible, giving the instrument a bold, dimensional appearance.
The maple-ply rim and brass tone ring are designed to provide the bright, articulate response associated with a traditional resonator banjo.
Traditional 5-String Design
With a 670 mm scale length, 31 mm nut width, and 22 frets, the OBJE400TFR offers a familiar full-size 5-string configuration. The hard maple neck and maple fingerboard provide a comfortable playing surface with a crisp, responsive feel.
The banjo also features an adjustable truss rod, allowing for neck adjustment as needed over time.
Built-In Pickup for Amplified Performance
One of the standout features of the Falcon OBJE400TFR is its built-in passive pickup system with dedicated volume control. This allows you to connect the banjo to an amplifier or PA system for rehearsals, performances, worship services, recording applications, and larger acoustic ensembles.
The onboard pickup gives this traditional-style banjo added versatility without requiring an external microphone every time you want to perform amplified.
Quality Appointments
The OBJE400TFR includes a brass tone ring, 24 brackets, brushed-nickel hardware, armrest, Remo Fiberskyn-style head, and chrome tuning machines. The combination of traditional components and modern styling makes this an especially distinctive banjo in the Falcon Series.
A Deluxe gig bag is included, making it easier to transport and protect your new banjo.
Why You'll Love the Ortega OBJE400TFR
You'll love this Ortega Falcon banjo if you want the classic sound and playing experience of a 5-string resonator banjo with a striking modern appearance and built-in amplification. The quilted maple resonator and transparent fire red finish make it visually distinctive, while the brass tone ring, maple construction, and Remo Fiberskyn-style head provide the traditional banjo character players expect.
The built-in pickup is particularly useful for musicians who perform with bands or need to amplify their banjo without relying exclusively on a microphone.
